[Warning: this is the longest Twitter post ever.]
HI, LIVEJOURNAL.
It's been like, a month and a half or something? First I was slacking, then I was deliberately avoiding you because that thing about being re-posted to Facebook gave me the creeps. But now that the new TV season has started, I've actually got stuff to talk about, so.
The state of the TV I watch:
shows that ended/went on hiatus/are about to end
Burn Notice
Still a solid show, but I'm not as interested as I used to be. I think it's because I kind of don't care about the actual burn storyline, and it's taking much more screen time lately than usual. I wish they'd solve it soon and go back to just wacky-client-of-the-week shenanigans.
Covert Affairs
Only saw three episodes, will finish the rest of the season some day. I liked it, just not enough to keep up with the show. One good thing though: it definitely restored my fondness for Chris Gorham.
Eureka
I was truly loving this season, the whole alternate reality thing, and GAIUS BALTAR BEING THERE OMFG someone please keep James Callis on my TV, like, FOREVER, but -- the mid-season finale was a bit of a letdown? I don't know, I was expecting... more I guess.
Highlight: OH MY GOD Jo/Zane is just PERFECT and I love it to itty bitty pieces that AU!Zane is falling for her as well.
Delight: Stark was back but he wasn't, that was ACES.
Major annoyance: last season Allison was pregnant and then had the baby, except her other kid pretty much didn't exist. This season, the other kid is back front and center into the story while the baby practically doesn't exist. This is called BAD WRITING, and it makes me think that Allison is a terrible, horrible mother.
Haven
Haven is my current favorite show. Yes, it does look like an X-Files rehash, but I think the fact that it's an specific story about this particular cop in this particular place makes it special in its own way. I just love Audrey to death, and more than that, I love the town, and the townies, and the atmosphere, and the latent sadness that envolves everyone in this show. Also, I'm a sucker for ridiculous relationship twists, so that fact that Nate can feel Audrey's touch has me all ~*swoony*~, yeah.
I like being opposite: I know I'm supposed to find Duke all charming and bad-boy-interesting, but, UGH. I wanna punch his face all the time. I'm not sure if this is because I gratuitously hate Eric Balfour's guts, or because my fondness for Obligatory Psychotic Jackasses is truly over and done.
Disappointing: the fact that they killed the [older] doctor and immediately replaced her with the younger/prettier one. FAILTASTIC.
Leverage
Parker >>>>>> everyone else. Hardison = love. And I don't hate Sophie now that she isn't all.about.Nate anymore. And this show makes me smile, so it's always a bonus.
Make It Or Break It
Dear cheesiest show in existence,
You're so incredibly ridiculous, and clichéd, and did I mention the CHEESE? However. You give me *good* cheese, so I'll keep watching and pointing and laughing until I drop from my stomach hurting from all the laughing.
Best regards,
Clarissa
Psych
HAHAHAHAHA TEARS FOR FEARS HAHAHAHA BESTEST EPISODE EVER.
Annoying: Shawn/Juliet. Aren't these two like, married or something in real life? WHY DO THEY HAVE THE OPPOSITE OF CHEMISTRY ON SCREEN? It's embarrassing.
Also? Gus? Marry me.
Royal Pains
I have no idea why, but this show makes me SO. FUCKING. HAPPY. I can't even. It's not even a good show, I'm the first to admit that. But I find it totally compelling, and completely adorable. It might have to do with the fact that Hank is an incredibly good doctor -- that kinda warms my heart [I have issues with how medical doctors are portrayed in fiction. It's the burden of having been raised by two of them].
Also, omg EVAN. So much character development this season, YES.
Also also? I truly love it that the show made a point to show that Divya and Jill should be friends, and then actually stuck with it and it PAID OFF: both characters grew because of their friendship. And hey, I don't find Jill completely useless anymore.
Still, Divya >>>> everyone else, trufax, the end.
Warehouse 13
I'm only up to episode 2.07, which I saw half of yesterday and then stopped because it was half an episode too much. I still have the same problem I had when it started: I don't like either of the leads, I find them both HORRIBLE ACTORS OMFZ GO BACK TO SCHOOL. I wish the show was about Claudia and Artie and Mrs. Frederic, and that Pete and Mika would just go DIE IN A FIRE.
White Collar
I pretty much gave up on this. IDK. I saw the first two episodes of the season and then forgot it even existed.
returning shows
Being Erica
Eh. I don't think I like this new development. Group sections? With people I couldn't care less about? I wanna see more of Erica's family, and RL friends, not go time-traveling on random people's lives. Nghn. Kinda disappointed.
[Though I reserve the right to change my mind when/if this turns out to be as brilliant as the Kai storyline was last season.]
Castle
I still don't like Beckett, but everyone else on this show is adorable and funny and amuses me SO MUCH that I can deal with the fact that I hate Beckett for the sake of watching them.
Also? Ryan's "he's really ruggedly handsome" line had me ROTFLOL.
Glee
I don't even know why I'm still watching Glee. I'm not usually one to stop and watch the trainwreck -- which is how it feels to watch this show. But I just can't stop. I guess it helps that I still don't see the characters as actual characters and more as perpetuated clichés who will never ever change nor get any sort of lasting development.
Best. Line. Delivery. EVER: "Stop the violence". HAAAAA. [Brittany is so totally my favorite character on this show.]
But I am pretty exited about next week's episode. 'Cause I have a ridiculous fondness for the guest star, and if they do a certain song that I love A LOT I might DIE FROM ACTUAL GLEE. And not, you know, Glee.
Gossip Girl
Every now and then I wonder why the hell do I still watch this show. And then they go and make it EVEN MORE ABSURD AND RIDICULOUS AND COMPLETELY CRAZY and I remember why: Georgina's spawn; Chuck pretending to be someone else with Fleur Delacour; Blair once again being foiled by royalty; and best of all: bwahahahaha Katie Cassidy's wall of PSYCHO SINGLE WHITE FEMALE, omg, beeeest storyline ever.
How I Met Your Mother
You guuuuys, I really really enjoyed this episode! It felt like old times, even. I mean, the show is still on notice, but this was a great start? Fingers crossed it keeps not disappointing me.
Life Unexpected
Yeah, I don't know why I'm still watching this. Will probably stop pretty soon. Zzzz.
new shows
Hellcats
Now that Tom Welling owns the CW I figured I would check the pilot out for curiosity's sake. And then... I didn't hate it? And then I found out Teryl Rothery has a recurring role [oh, Vancouver] and I watched the second episode? And for some reason I can't explain Ashley Tisdale's style of acting reminds me of Sarah Michelle Gellar's, and that has made me even more curious about it? IDEK, YOU GUYS.
Lost Girl
I didn't even know this show existed until I saw the pilot posted at one of the download places, and the summary got me interested. And I will take my cheesy sci-fi/fantasy from any and all sources available. Ended up liking it plenty. It's not a "good" show in any shape of form, but it's the exact type of show that I enjoy -- it's even got that Dresden Files/Sanctuary kind of vibe, and hey, a couple of really cool kick-ass female leads. What's not to like?
Nikita
Maggie Q is awesome and I wanna be her when I grow up. I like that this is not a remake as much as it is a sequel-of-sorts. And I like Alex [and I still can't believe she's the "daughter" from HIMYM. Whaaa?], and, you know, Melinda Clarke is pretty much perfect for this role.
However, Shane West is awful in this. AWFUL. And the dude from X-Men is not far behind. Ugh. So. For now I'm still gonna watch, but I don't know how long I'll be able to deal with their suckitude.
No Ordinary Family
I saw the web-released version of the pilot, and I liked it plenty.
However: OH MY GOD, STUPID USA TELEVISION WRITERS, STOP USING MY FUCKING COUNTRY AS THE EXOTIC MAGICAL PLACE WHERE PEOPLE GET SUPERPOWERS. Seriously, go to fucking Yellowstone, or the Grand Canyon, or what the fuck ever, USE FUCKING CENTRAL PARK. BUT FUCKING LEAVE US OUT OF THIS. FUCKERS.
Running Wilde
Loved. this. a. whole. lot. Hope it keeps up the awesomeness. WELCOME BACK TO MY TELEVISION, GOB.
stuff I'm ashamed to say I'm ridiculously excited about WTF happened to me?!
- LOSERVILLE OMFZ THIS FRIDAY AAAAH.
[Though. I could do with more spoilers. It annoys the fuck out of me that I can't find Smallville sides anywhere. /world's tiniest violin]
