[as they're airing the Director's Cut of the pilot tonight --]
Something about me and Glee: I already love the show. I'm extremely excited about the upcoming season -- even more so, I have high hopes for its awesomeness. I've been following the actors on Twitter and they've won me over with their adorableness and earnestness and all-around excitement about the show. I CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK.
[Also, as an aside, I have to say their PR machine has been one of the most amazing things I've ever watched, and the way they use Twitter is bound to be studied by social media experts, 'cause they OWN it like nothing else around.]
HOWEVER. I know it's only been an episode, but I'm song-spoiled enough to know about a bunch of other music that's gonna be on the show, and I hate to burst anyone else's bubbles, but I actually kind of [as in REALLY] hate the music on Glee. I mean -- I don't hate it at all while I'm watching the pilot episode, because it's not just about the music then, but I seriously won't be caught DEAD listening to most of the songs [be the originals or the Glee versions] outside of the episode-watching.
[With the possible exception of Leaving on a Jet Plane. And maybe Rehab if I had a time machine and went back to 2006.]
It's just NOT my kind of music. And I'm not really someone who will listen to a song I find shitty because it's been played on a show/movie/whatever I like. Because sorry, but music comes first.
So. I'll squee about the show, but I'll probably be groaning A LOT about the music. Be warned.

Speaking of music, Pitchfork posted an extremely long but also really really cool article last week:
The Social History of the MP3. Fascinating stuff. And then today,
Jonny Greenwood talked about dithering to the New Yorker. Not nearly as fascinating, but it's Jonny, and he's always awesome, so there you go.
