First and foremost: BACK-UP YOUR LIVEJOURNAL, as often as possible. LJArchive is what I use, but there are several options available. Use them.

I've been very good at remembering to back-up my LJ at least once a month for the past couple of years. And I've been cross-posting to IJ and JF as back-up as well just in case. :)

well, after i backup my posts... could i just burn the files to dvd or something and uninstall? i'm worried about prying eyes on my laptop >:/

Well, ljArchive saves your entire journal in a .lja file that I think only the program can open. But there's an option to export your journal as HTML. I've never done it, but it's there.

Also, I think Livejournal Backup saves it as HTML? I don't know, I've never used it.

ah, i think that i used the export to html feature. i think i will try backing it up onto a cd or something and see what happens!
