there was the stage, two red lights and a dodgy p.a.

And I'm gonna talk about two shows I seldom do.

Supernatural - 313 - Ghostfacers

I was really enjoying this episode [Mythbusters spoof! Actors providing their own lighting! Hand-held Blair Witch rip-off!] right until they cut from Ghostfacers to "the real world" and fucking Sam Winchester had to explain to me that they were exploring the intern's death while honoring it at the same time, or some other crap like that.

a) For fuck's sake, do not put a fucking disclaimer your storytelling.
b) I am quite intelligent and can draw my own conclusions, so don't fucking tell me what to think, thank you very much.

That line completely killed what would've been an otherwise kick-ass episode.

Ugly Betty - 214 - Twenty-Four Candles

I was quite enjoying this show before the hiatus -- mostly because I was loving the change in dynamics between Betty and Daniel. I don't quite 'ship them exactly, but I did like how lately they had been more equals, and their relationship had reached a place where I could really believe these two completely different characters were really good friends indeed.

But this ep? GAH. Four hundred steps back.

Also, I know Betty's the biggest pushover to have ever graced primetime television, but for the love of God, this whole Henry and Charlie storyline HAS GOT TO GO because it has just become mean. And it's the bad kind of mean, the one which is pointless because it's an impossible situation to resolve from the get go.

Also also, would people PLEASE stop hiring Gabrielle Union? Like EVER? Thank you.

[and back to our regular programming]

In other news, I survived my rewatch of Stargate SG-1 S5 with the audio commentary tracks on. And I gotta say: some episodes actually get a little bit better after you get the director's motivations behind it.

I'm mostly talking about Ascension, which I really really hated on first view [oh well, the big reason is that Sean Patrick Flanery gives me the CREEPS. *shudder*] and Meridian, which I have always thought was extremely cheesy and over the top.

Menace, however, continues to be the one episode that really has no reason for existing. At all. [You really blew that, Marty W.] UGH times infinity.

tv: ugly betty, tv: stargate sg-1, tv: supernatural
