you've got to fight the powers that be

You USAers probably don't need any help with the free hosting sites, but the rest of the world probably does. So. People, friends of mine. Anonymous Proxy Servers are very helpful when Sendspace is being stupid, or Megaupload is telling you to install the stupid toolbar or hey, when Mediafire suddenly stops working completely.

1. Here's a huge-ass list of a whole lot of Anonymous Proxy Servers.

2. By trial and error, I've figured out which proxy server goes best with each free hosting site. This might only work for myself, but hey, at least you know where to start:

a) Sendspace and Megaupload: YouHide.com. IMPORTANT: do NOT check the "remove all scripts" options. Hosting servers need their scripts to work by default.

Obs: Up-File, Filefactory and Rapidshare don't usually give me any trouble, but they all work with YouHide.com too if you wanna be extra cautious.

b) Mediafire: NinjaProxy.com. IMPORTANT: do NOT check the "no scripts" option. Anyway. Right now, this is the one proxy server giving me access to Mediafire, though I haven't gone through the whole list. There might be others. Still, when you get the "Click here for download" link, it will be something like this:

hxxp://www.ninjaproxy.com/cgiproxy/nph-proxy.pl/000110A/http/download185.mediafire.com/15imxdfggtg/di2dfrd2d2y/randomfilexyz.avi

So. Copy the link, paste it wherever. Remove the green part of the link. Now you have:

download185.mediafire.com/15imxdfggtg/di2dfrd2d2y/randomfilexyz.avi

Which is an actual link [not this one though, I made it up *g*]. I recommend putting that link onto a Downloading Manager [GetRight is my best friend in the world], especially because Mediafire accepts download resuming.

ETA: It seems Mediafire has blocked NinjaProxy.com from accessing its server. An working alternative right now is IonProxy.com, but who knows how long that'll last. I'll keep looking for more servers.

And if anyone knows of any other good matches for proxy servers and hosting services, please to be commenting with them. :)
