i'm feeling good about the bad

It's getting very hard to read Mike Ausiello and still keep my BSG spoiler-free status. WHY OH WHY did he have to start watching it?

Anyway. Today's column had some [bad?] news about Aaron Sorkin's new project:
Question: Any casting news/update on Aaron Sorkin's NBC drama Studio 7?

Ausiello: Yes, there's been a major development. Sources confirm ( Read more... )

i'm annoying, dreamhost is love, aaron sorkin owns me

Okay, that sucks. That sucks a lot. I'm like irationally pissed off at that casting news. I mean, Steven Weber? I'm sorry, I do NOT see myself loving that man like I love a Josh or a Danny. And the fact that just before reading about Weber I saw Mathew Perry's name and was so overcome with joy that I saw nothing but white light, makes it even worse. I love Mathew Perry and I thought he was awesome as a guest star on TWW. And Amanda Peet said no! I fucking love Amanda peet! AND he was after Bradley? I never would have thought he'd go after Bradley. HOW could Bradley say no. God. Bradley and Amanda Peet. Now no matter what I'm going to bitch about the fact that it COULD have been Bradley and Amanda Peet. Obviously these people don't share my blind devotion and I'm now thoroughly disappointed.

I wish I could gently stear Sorkin toward Nathan Fillion and Alan Tukyk.

OMG WORD. To everything you just said. EVERYTHING.

Steven Weber is one of those mediocre actors that you get as filler. He's NOT leading man material, and nowhere near charismatic enough to carry a whole show, especially a Sorkin show.

Matthew Perry and Amanda Peet! I just remembered they were in The Whole Nine Yards together, and while the movie wasn't great, they were. *sigh* WHO PASSES ON SORKIN? I mean, really? REALLY?

I didn't even know that Bradley Whitford was an option, since he already has a job. Hee. Was Sorkin trying to steal him away? I hear TWW is on its way out anway. Why the hell NOT, Bradley?

OMG Sorkin and Mal and Waaaash. Best idea EVER.

Does it make me a horrible person that now I'm hoping for an announcement that TWW is ending this season ASAP, so that Sorkin can have Bradley? I have no idea when the new show starts filming, but who cares? It's totally possible!

*g*

I've never seen Weber on anything but small movie parts [never seen Wings or any other show he was on], but still, I was SO DAMN EXCITED to have Matthew Perry speaking Sorkin on my TV! GAH.

I don't care either way for Amanda Peet -- I liked what I saw with her [which wasn't much, btw], but for some reason, her passing on it pisses me off. Who the hell does she think she is? GOD!

...I might be a bit irrational about this.

[OMG I'D DIE IF NATHAN FILLION WERE CAST! DIE!]

I used to watch Wings. No idea why and I wasn't ever in love with the actors. And usually I fall in love with actors pretty quick. It was like the show you watch when their just isn't anything else on because at least it's better than Guiding Light.

Tissa, I'm still mad about this whole thing. Like, raging mad. I just DO NOT understand why Mathew Perry would EVER consider not doing this. I just... I'm just lost here.

I haven't seen Amanada Peet in a whole lot, but I always think she brings such quirkiness and humour to small characters. But yeah, this decision hurts my opinion of her a lot.

GOD. How do you go from Mathew Perry to Steven Weber? Was there NO ONE else?

Just imagine it, Tissa: Nathan's sly smile and smooth voice dripping with Sorkin dialogue every week. I die a little just thinking about it. I'm really feeling way more angst over Nathan not being in this show than I should be considering it was only ever a possibility in my head.

The only thing I can think of about Matthew Perry passing on Sorkin is that he doesn't want to serialized television anymore. 'Cause this sounds like the kind of part in which the producers might want actors to sign up for a 3-5 year deal, and I can see someone like Perry not wanting to commit -- he's been on TV for 10 years already.

But still! Steven Weber? GOD. GAH.

I'm really feeling way more angst over Nathan not being in this show than I should be considering it was only ever a possibility in my head.

You and me both. I hadn't thought about it, but once you mentioned it, it sounded so goddamn perfect that now I can't help but be a little crushed that Nathan won't be speaking Sorkin. :(

A whole big fat WORD! to your whole post!
Steven Weber is just EW! I saw him on a couple of movies and the man seriously gross. There's something about him that truly bothers me. And he can't act! Why would Sorkin agree with this decision? To go from Matthew Perry to Weber? WTF? It's like the decision of casting Moira Kelly times 10! And Amanda Peet... I remember her from Jack & Jill and some other movies and I like her. But I read that the character is like a femme fatale kinda woman so I'm not so sure that she can pull it off. But I was willing to give her a chance! Who passes on Sorkin? WHO?

And yes! YES! Yes to Nathan Fillion and Alan Tukyk. And give the Amanda Peet part to Stephanie Romanov. She can probably pull it off.

Duuuude. Stephanie Romanov would be PERFECT for the part. Oh man.

There really should be a way for us to *talk* to Sorkin about this!
