You know, Please Please Me is A REALLY TACKY ALBUM OMG. I mean. Misery. Anna. Chains. A TASTE OF HONEY [this song wins the prize of the tackiest most tacky song in the history of EVER].

Why is it that I love the Beatles again?

I kind of think of it as just...fitting with the cheesy songs of that time. Plus, early era Beatles wanted to sell records before they could get all artistic and what not. But I agree -- it is cheesy. ::pets them:: Especially the album cover. Ack.

You love them because they are geniuses? ;) Ooh! And the sexy John screaming in Twist and Shout. [/fangirl]

My friend bought me the Please Please Me CD for my birthday. When she could've gotten me any of the other ones. Like Magical Mystery Tour for instance. But nooo. THE FIRST ONE.

Yeah, I understand WHY it's cheesy. And they were PRETTY BAD musicians back then. But it doesn't make it any less tacky. Seriously. "Do You Want to Know a Secret"... I kinda want to reply, "No, I really don't! STFU now." :)

But the tacky factor gets really scarce in A Hard Day's Night [except for Paul's crap *g*] and is *completely* gone by With the Beatles, so there you go. :)

Dude, food analogies.

Heee.

Because the Beatles stole from the best and managed to make it their own and reinvent themselves time and time again before it became a career tactic (hi Madonna!), and without falling into the trap of becoming cover artists for life (hey Oasis - how's 1967 treating you?)
