Got home over an hour ago from a night of debauchery* with
Clara,
Ju and Polly, and WHY THE HELL AM I STILL AWAKE?

* We were at the movies. *g* All-night film marathon, yay!

-- Garden State, which I loved more this second time around. Maybe because the audience was SO into it. Or maybe because we were singing along with the soundtrack. Or maybe because I cried this time. :) I still have a couple of problems with the movie [HATE the ending. And treating depression with drugs is very very alien to me -- and to most Brazilians, actually], but man, Zach Braff is one great storyteller.

[Proof that BSG has eaten our brains: somewhere in the movie Sam jokes that she's a robot and Clara and I immediately went "OMG! SHE'S A CYLON!". I'm half tempted to make an icon. But then, this has already happened. ;)]

-- The surprise movie was REALLY a surprise: I Was On Mars. Duuuudes. Seriously, this is the most WTF???? movie ever. No, really. It makes so very little sense, and it's UGLY and weird and there are maybe 20 lines of dialogue all through it... and yet, we couldn't tear our eyes off of the screen because we NEEDED to know what fucked-up thing was gonna happen next. It was VERY SCARY.

-- Stranger than Paradise, which I'm quite sure I'd like better if I was, you know, AWAKE. Nice B&W cinematography and Screaming Jay Hawkins rendition of "I Put a Spell on You" on repeat and well, it is a Jim Jarmusch film. Alas, the movie's slow pace and lack of dialogue/action/anything of interest happening until the last 5 minutes just made me sleepier. Although the audience clapping every time a scene was over and the screen went black for 3 or 4 seconds was funny. every. time.

One day, I'll own a movie theater and there will be a movie marathon every night.

Oh, and Clara has all 15 Veronica Mars episodes in her possession now. Eeeee!
