Wow! It's been a very strange couple of months, full of (good and/or bad) decisions and (good and/ορ bad) developments. All of this year has been bizzarre, forcing me to re-think various aspects of my life. I don't know if this is getting me anywhere, at the moment it mostly feels like I'm regressing rather than moving ahead in any way, but in some situations it's hard to tell until everything is said and done. Which might be a long way down the line.
Amidst all of this confusion I am somehow managing to go through a significant bout of creativity. I am semi-regularly playing the flute, have A TON of plans for craft projects lined up and am going through them nicely and I have enrolled for ceramics lessons at a friend's workshop as well as to a creative writing class. I have, officially, too many hobbies!
On the other hand, I sprained my calf last night whilst training for climbing so there's one less of those, at least for a while...
I am really excited about my new classes, the writing one in particular. So far it's been very challenging, especially two things; one, writing something in 10 minutes on a topic specified by the instructor and two, reading my work out loud for all the group to hear. The latter in particular I find especially hard (as anyone who knows me well can imagine), but also incredibly necessary.
The part where I have to take something home to write has been easier to tackle and more enjoyable, but no less necessary. I am really enjoying trying to get inspired within the constraints set by the topic and so far, researching my pieces before I start writing has been a lot of fun too. The fact that the subject matter is given is definitely helping me think outside my own limited perspective and forcing me to be more imaginative - well, that's how I feel anyway. Another positive thing is that I hadn't written anything non-technical in Greek in, literally, years so it's strange but at the same time exciting to read my own "literary" voice in Greek which I had no idea what it would read like.
I briefly thought about putting the pieces I do for class on LJ as a personal exercise but, as they are in Greek, I decided against it. Instead, it could be good, starting with this post, to keep notes or an account of the class here, so I might do that.
And now, maybe I should go back to working on my next piece which I have decided is going to be a science-fiction one! :)
