Can I ask you about your random generator system of choosing books? I am asking as a person who has a lot of trouble of picking what to read next. And owns a lot of books.

Uh, that's pretty much it: I have a "to be read" collection on my Kindle app and a "to be read" shelf in real life, and when I need a next book to read, I count how many books I've got and use random.org to select a number between 1 and [number of books], and then, most of the time, I read that book. (Sometimes I find that I do not want to read that book right now, or possibly ever, and then I either choose a new number or take that book out of the running and then choose a new random number.)

I also have a spreadsheet I use for the same purpose when choosing which open fic tab to read next (because it conveniently supplies a number for each row and renumbers them neatly when I delete one), so you could use that technique if e.g. you have physical books you want to read scattered around different locations.
