Star Trek: Center Stage

Shut up, there is nothing that does not need a Center Stage AU. Center Stage is a ballet movie about the pretty, young, not-conventionally-perfect dancer Jodie who comes to the American Ballet Academy. On her first day she meets womanizing big star dancer Cooper Nielsen, who has recently returned to the American Ballet Company after his former love, Kathleen, married the director of the company, Jonathan. Jodie's classmates include Maureen (technically perfect dancer who lacks the passion for ballet and has been pushed into it by her overbearing stage mother), Eva (badass awesome dancer played by Zoe Saldana, hence everything--Eva has a wee tiny attitude and thus gets herself on the wrong side of Jonathan), Charlie (who is unexpectedly straight! and a nice guy! and really talented!) and Erik and Sergei who I don't have good analogues for and they don't end up dating anyone anyway so, moving on.

Jodie gets seduced by Cooper, and learns to love and succeed at dancing his way en route to realizing he's a shitty excuse for a boyfriend and dumping him, but not before her brilliance is acknowledged and she gets a job dancing in his bold new company. Decent guy Charlie has been pining after her through the entire movie and finally gets to make a move once she's rejected Cooper. Maureen meets college student Jim and starts realizing there's more to life than ballet and it's the ballet part that makes her miserable, so eventually she rebels against her mother and quits dancing completely, making way for Eva to get the starring role in the students' dance and thus a position in the American Ballet Company. Cooper is professionally successful and yet dumped/free to find more teenaged ballerinas to seduce at the end of the movie.

Right off the bat, obviously Uhura is Eva, Kirk is Cooper Nielsen, and Spock is Maureen. (I guess, in this formulation, that makes Sarek the overbearing stage-parent.)

Pike is probably Jonathan. IDEK who you want to put in the middle of the love triangle/tug of war between Kirk and Pike. POSSIBLY THE ENTERPRISE. Er, personification thereof, I guess. Majel? ANYWAY.

Here's the thing: I think this winds up making Chekov Jodie, and then Sulu is probably Charlie. And naturally McCoy is Jim-the-college-student. (Which makes this Chekov/Sulu and Spock/McCoy, but I think that pretty much syncs up with the actual concepts in the movie, so let's go with that.)

[I tried, for like ten seconds, to picture turning the casting around so Kirk gets to be Jodie, because she's the central hero and everything, but, uh... well, you have to then imagine instead of a sweet, naive, earnest young dancer who is somewhat taken advantage of by a famously hot pro dancer... you have to imagine teenaged Kirk coming and actively HUSTLING the pro dancer - Pike, then, I suppose - and, um, okay, actually that could work too. In that case Kirk probably breaks up with Pike in favor of no one in particular, and to top it off seduces Maureen!Spock into staying in dance but following his lead into Pike's company along with everyone else in their class, Charlie!Sulu and Sergei!Chekov and Erik!Cupcake; Eva!Uhura gets to be prima ballerina because she is both awesome and at this rate the only lady in the company. Jodie!Kirk presumably somehow compels Jim!McCoy (...that is just weird) to quit college and take up, at the very least, stage management and lighting design, possibly also sewing costumes, building sets, and taping toes. Pike!Cooper presumably sits back and enjoys the ride, and settles for being able to point them all in approximately his intended direction.]

Um. I don't think I even really want to ask for feedback here because, really, what can anyone say to another person's ballet movie mental breakdown? So I will just confess while I am it that I did this with bandom, too! In case there are people in the world I did not inflict this fantasy-casting on:

Cooper Nielsen = Pete Wentz
Jodie = Brendon
Charlie = Spencer
Maureen = Ryan
Jim = Jon
Kathleen = Patrick
Jonathan = Gerard

And in the end, after getting dumped by Brendon, Pete meets Mikey Way who is so totally unimpressed with his bullshit, and falls in love and spends the rest of his life getting to go to Thanksgiving and horrify Patrick and Gerard. The end! \o/
