I think the image of Jack blowing on a baby hamster because he wants to keep it alive is the best thing ever, with the possible exception of the rest of the chapter, especially Ianto's request in the very last scene.

I am loving this - was looking forward to it from the moment you mentioned it - but my favorite line so far is this:

...and still he'd never realized it was him Jack was focusing on, really him, instead of a boyfriend-shaped object, or a sex-partner-shaped one, or an interchangeably beloved member of his team.
