I've been off... doing stuff. Including working on the Torchwood Epic of Ricidulousness and Doom (really, it's almost totally finished for real, I swear), which I somehow like to imagine translates into actually participating in fandom in ways that let other people know I am not dead. But as it turns out: no.
Apart from that, what I have been up to lately includes:
1. Watching
Sarah Jane Adventures. I watched the first two episodes of the new season - The Last Sontaran, pts. 1 and 2 - and, and, and. MARIAAAAAAAAAAAA. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNN. NOES. Though I am glad that they did not immediately swap in Lucy and her dad (they will apparently wait until ... um, today, I guess? ... to swap in a new spunky girl-character to be Not Maria, Dammit. Hmf.)
I am also glad that (meaning TPTB) did not actually make Chrissie into Donna Noble in miniature, because DAMMIT. As it is, Maria and Alan deserve a good smacking for trying, and Chrissie deserves to have Donna temping at her place of employment (if she has a place of employment? What does Chrissie actually do, anyway?)
But also: ALAN. MARIA. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOES COME BAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK.
Ahem. Although I guess Sarah Jane and Luke and Clyde (and Chrissie!) are pretty cool too. I GUESS. And I got all excited when she mentioned phoning UNIT. Yay UNIT!
2. Semi-relatedly, listening to Doctor Who audio--only not any of the Eighth Doctor ones
darthfox recced me, after reviewing the entire extant catalog, nor the Torchwood radio play I still haven't finished, nor the audiobook of David Tennant reading The Stone Rose. No, I finished listening to the second half of the Eighth Doctor play, "Minuet in Hell," which I'd already given up on months ago because it's, uh, kind of bad.
I'm sorry! I'm a compulsive completist! Also I thought there were pretty good odds on the Doctor a) shouting and b) being a woobie! Plus, c) the Brig.
I did in fact get a, b, and c, and it was in fact otherwise pretty bad. But hey, now I can move on to "Invaders from Mars" secure in the knowledge that I finished the last one (although I couldn't make it through "Stones of Venice," ugh...)
3. Rediscovering my love for
Supernatural.
THEIR LITTLE FACES.
Ahem. I mean: I'm still back in Season 3 (though mildly spoiled for the major points of S4 thus far), and have watched six episodes in the last week and THEIR LITTLE FACES.
...apparently that's all I've got?
Well, except HENRIKSEN NOOOOOOOOES DAMMIT. YOU GOT TO BE AWESOME FOR LIKE TWENTY MINUTES.
Also, Sam and Dean's matching tats! ♥ ♥
Also Bobby continues to be awesome, and I am really profoundly delighted that Gordon is dead and SAM'S LITTLE FACE.
Ahem. So, yeah, I'm catching up on Supernatural.
I do find it a bit difficult to contemplate being truly fannish about Supernatural again--even before bandom ruined me for incest pairings I was already tending to find Sam/Dean upsetting, and now I find it ... really upsetting. But I have a slasher's incoherent and irrational prejudice against just reading gen (even though it's most of what I ever wrote in SPN), so... huh. Maybe I will just ... enjoy watching the show?
Well, and think about the actors hooking up, of course. Did they actually get married yet? It's legal in Canada!
4. Totally writing my exchange fic, I swear. Okay, but, um. I thought really hard about it at some point this weekend?
5. Attempting to explain smarm to a SF writer. WHY DOES THIS SORT OF THING HAPPEN EVERY TIME I GO TO A CON?
