Entertainment Awards

After seeing that "The Dark Knight" wasn't nominated as movie of the year by the Oscars and the Grammy's merely nominated one song of Nine Inch Nails' "Ghosts I-IV," (and even still completely overlooked "The Slip" which was also released in the SAME YEAR), I have no other option than to do the inevitable:

FUCK the Academy.
FUCK the Grammys.

Let's ground this shit and make our own lists.

This is my personal entertainment awards list:

For 2008!

Movie of the Year: THE DARK KNIGHT

Best Actor (to hell with this "supporting bullshit," good acting supports itself): HEATH LEDGER "THE JOKER"

Most Entertaining TV Show: CLEAN HOUSE (It might be a guilty pleasure, but the crew is a great ensemble and an even better collaborative team turning the worst junk-yard homes into classy abodes!)

Bravest Artistic Effort: NINE INCH NAILS "GHOSTS I-IV" (Trent Reznor finally finished out his contract with Universal/Interscope Records and took complete ownership of his art. "GHOSTS" was released with nothing more than a "2 Weeks" blog posting at www.nin.com as advertisement. All 36 tracks for merely $5 OR COMPLETELY FREE once others shared it on the Pirate Bay COMPLETELY LEGALLY! Even still, the album is listed as amazon.com's most purchased MP3 album of 2008. It was FREE LEGALLY and people STILL PAID FOR IT! And then People like me bought the Ultimate Deluxe Edition for $300, autographed by the man himself, and it sold out in less than 30 hours! INCREDIBLE ARTISTIC SUCCESS!)

My Most Played Album: INGRID MICHAELSON "GIRLS AND BOYS" (I loved it. That "The Way I Am" song is addictive. and the album from start to finish made for the most comforting end-of-day rituals while I was in training in Georgia (often accompanied with one of three Neil Gaiman books I read while in training! lol)

Best Book: NEIL GAIMAN "THE GRAVEYARD BOOK" (Stand back Harry Potter. Move aside Edward and Bella. Nobody Owens becomes a real somebody in this twisted and touching children's book about coming of age as an individual. Truly, Gaiman will be long-remembered for quick-read treats such as this!)

Best Video Game: LITTLE BIG PLANET for PS3 (Seriously, if you haven't at least checked out the game in your local video game store then you've missed out on a fresh new take on the classic 2D video game style. Sack Boy is perhaps the most expressive, unique, fun, agile, fast, creative, and charming gamin character to come along in quite some time. OH, THE GAME IS FUN TOO!)

Best Electronic Device: BLACKBERRY STORM (If it weren't for the fact that I'm already typing way too much as is, I'd be making this post with that very device right now! applications GALORE! I've even been informed of a fantistic "FART SOUND APPLICATION" which I must find STRAIGHT AWAY! Love It!)

Best Tour: NINE INCH NAILS "LIGHTS IN THE SKY OVER NORTH AMERICA 2008"
(If you didn't see it, you missed out. Point blank. What's even better? Trent only charged $50 per ticket for the show! you can't beat it. Not with visuals like these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwV5cWLFM9U And if you don't believe me when I say all visual are improvised each show, then check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53S5wTWBz_c )

Best Song: NINE INCH NAILS "DISCIPLINE" (this quickly became my theme song throughout training. The simple and progressive disco beat and lyrics melded together into a driven, catchy song. And who could resist the hilarious fan-made cartoon music video which Trent quickly claimed as the "official" video for the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1ZMKfFHU3U&feature=related )

Finally,
Strongest In The Entertainment Industry: JENNIFER HUDSON (Kill anyone in my family, let alone my mother, and I'm not sure I could persevere as well as she already has. what more needs to be said here?)

And hey! this isn't a competition, this is just my opinion. You got another idea for a "best something" then by all means post it. Let's make entertainment fun and diverse again!
