It's really hard not to be upset and at work after reading the final sentence.  I don't wanna say too much, but this is the worste thing I could possibly hear other than the loss of someone close to me

Given how unforeseeable the future actually is, I consider "the foreseeable future" to be a rather short increment of time. ^_~ Just saying. That sounds more like a break for planning, not a "The End." He's too creative to run out of ideas, just needs time to think up the next one after that. Don't let it get you too down! ((hugs))

in retrospect, I was shocked and at work when I read this. I was holding back, if I had been home, able to pace around for a while I think I would have come to the same conclusion as you. Thank you though.
