Splendour in the Grass 2006 -- Byron Bay

Jul 24, 2006 13:58

Over two, wet exhausting days, a small boatload of bands completely rocked Byron Bay. It was muddy, it was damp, it was exhilirating. Mad props to Tex Perkins for unleashing his broody hotness ... twice ... to Tim Rogers for more-than-ably representing Oz rock and moody alcoholic frontmen everywhere, to Karen O for being madly fucking awesome and the hot ninja poses, Sonic Youth for the massive overdose of dissonance and feedback, and Mogwai for blasting my ears with eerie, trancelike "math rock".

Also with grateful thanks to the Zutons for being the surprise packet of the festival, the Vines for the fortune cookies and the Voguelike hotness, Patience for bringing all the balloons and the Scissor Sisters for putting me in touch with my inner whore and encouraging me to dance in the rain and the mud right at the end.

More in review later, in the meantime, click through the piccie below and enjoy the photo gallery ...
