time flies
I realized this morning that not only have I stopped posting updates on the web, it's been at least a month (probably longer) since I've even read my LF friends page or followed my Facebook feed. I don't think I've checking into FetLife more than 2 or 3 times since we moved. I've completely lost track of what's going on in the lives of my friends. No wonder I'e been feeling disconnected from everything.
I'm thinking it's related to being back at the Internet company. When I spend huge chunks of my workday online, working with blogs, various social media sites, and coming up with strategies for blogs and social media sites, it's not exactly what I want to be doing when I come home. Then there's the fact that I'm spending an average of 2 hours a day driving to/from work (mine or boy's) and I realize just how little time that leaves in my day. Here's hoping that once we get moved and the commuting time drops I'll have more time to connect.
For those that haven't heard (which is probably most of you), we're moving in less than two weeks. We actually took a few loads of boxes from the garage over to the new house yesterday. We'll likely keep moving stuff in batches over the next week -- stuff that never got unpacked or stuff that we don't need for awhile. It looks like move-in day will be the 22nd. We're getting a truck from boy's work and possibly help from his co-workers and a few friends of the kids. I know most of my local friends work weekdays so we're not asking for help from them.
The house is in the same neighborhood we've always loved. It'll make it easier for boy to commute (weekdays he spends between 1.5-2 hours on buses/trains) and easier for me when I have to drive him to work at 3:30am -- or go back out and pick him up in the evening after I've driven myself home. I figured out that except for the first six months he lived with me and the four months we'll have lived here, all the time we've lived in Phoenix, we've lived in one area (approximately one square miles). This will be the 3rd rental home and the 5th residence we've had in that neighborhood.
And, yes, the kids are moving with us. We're planning to have a housewarming probably in early June -- around boy's bday. The new house has a pool, so it'll be an indoor/outdoor event. And if anyone in the East Valley wants to hang out with us while we're still here in Tempe, you should do so ASAP.
