I'm completely with you. The historical stuff should really say "Akiba" and then the last line should say something like "the school was renamed in September 2007 after J.B., a generous donor who funded the school's move to such and such a place."

personally I like the akiba name better, and i agree that it should be something like established in {year}, akiba school was renamed {blah} in recognition of {blah} in {year}

thats like when Drexel took over hanemann hospital, and my friend went through years of school at hanemann, and then graduated with a drexel degree, and she says, i didnt graduate from drexel, i graduated from hanemann.

you didnt graduate from JBHA, you graduated from Akiba.

Come now, you know in actuality, you went to Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy... just because at the time it was called Akiba, it was truly all along JMBHA... I mean, if the website says it, it must be true. We all know that websites never lie, especially over important things like school names and such.

Also, as you already know, I think there is something very fickle about renaming a school simply because of a generous donation. However, it does give me hope that when I take over the world, everything will be named L.A.W. in my honor. It will be confusing with all the L.A.W. department of (blank)'s all over the place. However, I feel confident that once I'm able to have everything renamed, I can quickly revise history, making me responsible for every great achievement mankind has made... Perhaps it will become L.A.W.'s theory of relativity... that would be cool.
