Poor Mr. President. No, really. People are crazy. I don't know what they expect of him. I live close enough to the beach to walk to it and while I think this whole situation is just one big cluster, I'm not especially concerned with the President's personal feelings on the matter or how this disaster relates to other Presidents' disasters or the disasters of other places in the world.
I would like to point out, though, that as soon as the oil touches the offshore casinos here in MS, they're required to shut down according to fire code. Aaaand shutting down the casinos would effectively collapse the budget for the whole goddamned state. Well, that's not entirely true. We do have the fishing industry. Oh, wait.
So rather than carry on about how awful people are handling the source of the disaster, I would really kind of appreciate it if they did something about the impending total meltdown of the regional economy. You know, since they can't seem to do anything about the oil.
Fun fact: If the oil hits the oyster beds, they're unusable for 50 years! Hooray!
