You do actually have to look in to what the manufacture means by organic as how it has been officially defined has LOTS of wiggle room.
Also, an organic orange/banana where you peal the skin is less worrisome than say grapes or apples where you eat the skin.
I'd say it also tends to be a matter of what you're looking for with the organic label. Someone looking for pesticide/growth hormone free will be interested in things someone attempting to keep their environmental footprint small won't be looking for.
