Lisa, from our talks in LJ, I know you are a big Survivor fan.
I don't know if the news about the upcoming season has made it your way yet. So here it is...
New Season of "Survivor" Will Be Ethnically Split
TV's Survivor: Cook Islands is already being surrounded with controversy, as CBS' reality game show has 20 castaways competing between ethnically split tribes. IMDB.com reports the new Survivor contestants will be split into four tribes: African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic and White, prior to their ultimate merge later in the show. "The idea for this actually came from the criticism that Survivor was not ethnically diverse enough," says host Jeff Probst. "For whatever reason, we've always had a low number of minority applicants for the show. So we set out and said, 'Let's turn this criticism into creative for the show.' I think it fits in perfectly with what Survivor does, as it is a social experiment and adding another layer to that experiment, which is taking the show to a completely different level." The show will follow last season's Exile Island format, with each episode sending one castaway to a separate isolated island, with the chance to find a hidden immunity idol which they could then use to prevent themselves from being voted out at a future Tribal Council.
