(no subject)
Hello all. I'm in Turkey at the moment. A small city in the south east called Maras (famous for its ice cream...)
My schedule is crazy... I work every day for the next 16, having worked the last 5, and 6 of the 7 before that. For those keeping track at home that makes for 27 of 28 days and 21 in a row. That is a lot. And on top of teaching 4+ hours per day, we have to make all our lesson plans and such, not even a curriculum to go by... Basically I am kinda stressed and tired. I think it'll all get better once the school year starts and I'm teaching 20-25 hours per week instead of 34 (which is A LOT for teaching). After our couple weeks of hell, the girl I've been working with and I have planned a trip to Athens for a few days, so that'll be really nice. And at least I'm making a lot of money (should be able to save over $2000 this summer, including the trip to Athens and another later to London).
Other than that things have been interesting. The company I'm working for turns out to be kinda sketchy, but its hard to tell how much of that is the company and how much is Turkey. The people are really nice, but we keep getting jerked around. For instance for this job, at first we were told we'd get the weekends free... then that we'd just have to work Saturday, but it would just be field trips and such... then Saturday and Sunday but just field trips, and then today, after we were already here that we have to actually teach and have lesson plans and such every day. If things continue the way they have been with broken promises and such, I may end up trying to find a new job in a few months. I'm going to wait at least a little bit though, cause it might change when the school year starts.
I have some time off in August/beginning of September. I'm going to London around August 14th for a bit, but if anyone wants to hang out anywhere in Europe after that, let me know....
