Admin: more volunteers

Mar 12, 2007 17:55

In a few days, dkwilliams is up with the question: "how to know when you've reached the end". That means we need a volunteer to be on deck to go next!

What: Snag a question from the list and write something up that addresses the topic.

Who: If you've got a fair amount of writing experience under your belt, you are absolutely welcome to volunteer.

How: Pick any question from the list that you feel like you can answer based on your own experience writing fic. You don't have to cover all the angles -- just enough to set up a discussion.

When: Posts have been going up more-or-less weekly. I want each post to have at least a few days of exposure before the next goes live, but preferably not too much more than a week.

Format guidelines: Please put the question in and behind the cut and the general topic in the subject line. If you'd like to use specific examples to illustrate a point, it would probably be best to make them up for the sake of discussion. Critiquing pro-fic is one thing, but I'm of a mind that fanfic is a gift of love and ripping it apart without authorial permission (and participation) is just not cool. Besides, most of us know each other, and hi, we're the fandom of relentless, Fraser-like courtesy, yes? *g* That said, some positive fanfic examples are fine, as long as they show success in whatever you're trying to illustrate.

Again, this is a Q&A series, so the Question AND the Answer should inspire discussion. You don't need to cover every angle in your answer -- just offer your take on the solution and open the floor for comments to explore it further. :D

To grab the spot after dkwilliams, please to comment here to claim it!

Also! Please DO keep adding questions to the list! It's totally fair to ask questions that are related to topics already covered. For instance, nos4a2no9 gave us a great post on plot-driven casefic, but plot is a huge and complex subject and we've only talked about one part of it. (Romance plots work differently than case-plots, for example.) So, remember that the list is always open to more additions! :D

This is turning out beautifully and I'm so thrilled! Yay fandom!! \o/
