Title: Shadowplay
Author:
inlovewithnightPairing: Kara/Leoben overtones, but mostly gen
Rating: R
Length: shorter
Why I'm reccing this fic:
I read this story and it makes me weep, because this story takes the amazing premise of Leoben's character (and all the potential of that storyline) and just NAILS everything! I am going to warn for, as
inlovewithnight put it, you know, psychological twistiness. I don't know if it is any MORE twisted than Starbuck and Leoben's relationship already was on the show, but this ... this is just simply amazing! It takes all of the bits and pieces of their relationship and gives such a beautifully chilling look into Leoben's mind. If you are even slightly interested in the potential of what this plot line could have been, I can't recomend this story highly enough!
"Anger won't help you, Kara. Not here. Not anymore." He tilts his head and studies her for a moment. "Perhaps it never has."
"I don't know what game you think you're playing, but--"
"This is not a game." His voice rises to be heard above her anger, and he regrets it. Impatience serves no purpose. Returning her anger with his own is not what God wants from him. "Of all the things in all the worlds, Kara Thrace, this is not a game."
Shadowplay Title: Not My Type
Author:
bluebrocadePairing: Hugh Dillon/Callum Keith Rennie
Rating: R
Length: 2,295 words
Why I'm reccing this fic:
So amnesia fics? Totally cliche, I think we'll all admidt that. But
bluebrocade went and wrote a fic that demonstrates exactly WHY they became so popular that they could even become a cliche!! I mean this is hilarious and hot and just so amazingly WONDERFUL that words are escaping me. Seriously, even if you don't usually read RPS, READ THIS and allow your mind to be changed because this? MADE OF AWESOME!
So now he was driving his secret gay movie-star amnesiac boyfriend home. Fuck. It was the tabloid story from hell. He was tempted to write it himself.
Not my Type Title: Right Where It's Severed
Author:
lordessrenegadePairing: Joe Dick/Billy Tallent
Rating: R
Length: 2000ish words
Why I'm reccing this fic:
Crossover with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind! Joe and Billy's doomed love! Wonderful structure of storytelling! Seriously, this story is AWESOME. I mean, I REALLY do not have the words to do it justice, because it just takes the essence of Billy and Joe and the nature of theirloveissodoomed and makes it coherent and beautiful and poignant all at the same time. If you have seen and liked EITHER of these two movies, just go and read this RIGHT NOW! *g*
The first thing he forgot about Joe was his death.
The way that, from a certain angle, he looked like he had just passed out on the sidewalk like he’d done a million times before. I’m not picking you up, Billy thought when he came out of the club, looking at him sprawled out there with the glass shattered beside his hand. Let Pipe deal with your shit, or John, or fucking Bruce. Not me, not this time, and then he saw the blood.
Once he forgot that, the rest was easy.
