Title: Une vie moins ordinaire
Author: aukestrel
Pairing: Gus Knickel/Johnny Johannson (Buried on Sunday/My Life as a Dog)
Rating: NC-17
Length: 312KB
Why I'm reccing this fic: Because I'm in love with Gus & Johnny.
Those two are just so cute together. And hot! aukestrel is doing an amazing job in bringing those two together again - it's a sequel to Chansons de marin, scriggle already rec'ed here.

Maybe the difference is the lack of expectation, or the relaxation Johnny seems to feel, or maybe it’s the fact that Johnny’s so transparent, so awed, so delighted, and so unable to hide anything that Gus is… secure - perhaps for the first time he can remember - and as certain as he can be that there is in fact nothing to hide, that Johnny wouldn’t know a hidden agenda from a lobster pot.
He puts his other arm around Johnny and turns his head to kiss Johnny’s temple and feels Johnny’s mouth stretch into a smile against his neck.
“Thinking’s good,” Gus whispers finally, because he hasn’t acknowledged Johnny’s words, too busy luxuriating in Johnny’s presence.
“Mmmm,” Johnny says agreeably, and burrows down further against Gus’ neck.
“Thinking?” Gus says, smoothing Johnny’s shoulder with his thumb, idly wondering about the significance (if there is one) of the tattoo there.
Johnny laughs, a sharp uncomfortable gust, and shakes his head. “Nothing,” he murmurs. “Never mind.”
Gus kicks himself, hard - didn’t he say he had to stop comparing them? - and twists to kiss Johnny’s cheek, running his hands down the long muscles in Johnny’s back. “I’m sorry,” he says quietly. “I was wool-gathering. I feel so good I can’t think straight.”

Title: Wide Open Space
Author: aukestrel & kelliem
Pairing: Alex Bresnyachuk/Christy Mahon (Getting Married in Buffalo Jump/Somewhere in Paris)
Rating: NC-17
Length: 203KB
Why I'm reccing this fic: I'm really bad with this 'why' stuff ... It's just two lonely men falling in love, beautifully written by two skillful writers and that's about it.

The barn's in even better shape but Christy'd been expecting that, at least after seeing the house. When he asks if he's bunking there, though, Alex looks like he's just stepped on a spider in the house or something. "No," he says, his voice rougher than it has been. "You'll have a room in the house, take your meals with the family."

Christy shrugs, more to put Alex at ease than anything else, but Alex is still frowning. "Do many folks ask you to sleep in the barn?"

What's "many," Christy wants to ask - this is the first time he's followed the harvest since his dad's stroke, and he still isn't even sure why he's doing it this time - but he shrugs again. "Lots of people don't have a spare room or a bunkhouse -" hell, he and his dad had a four room cabin and that only because his mother had insisted on indoor plumbing, "- so a barn's not so bad long as you can use a shower somewhere." Old bucket rigged up outside, in a couple of places, but the cold water felt damn good after putting up the hay or straw.

"You can use the shower any time you like," Alex says firmly, leading Christy to the house. Christy would have said to start with the barn, but Alex seems kind of put out over the whole barn question so Christy just shuts up and follows.

Wide Open Space

Title: Islanders
Author: akite
Pairing: Gus Knickel/Duck MacDonald (Buried on Sunday/Wilby Wonderful)
Rating: NC-17
Length: 50KB
Why I'm reccing this fic: Two islanders meet in Solomon Gundy - both characters are well-captured, you really get a feeling of the men you know from the movies.

Uh," Duck dredged the name from his memory, "Talbot Sperry sent me over, said you were looking for someone to do some work around here."

"Ah, that I am. That I am, and who might you be?"

"Duck MacDonald," he replied as he held out his hand.

Gus smiled again and took his hand to shake. "Duck? Really?"

Duck had to smile back. "Well, actually, it's Walter, but I've been Duck so long, it kind of stuck."

Gus let go of Duck's hand and made a sweeping gesture with his arm, "Well then, Duck, as you can see, things have gotten a bit shabby around here. There was nothing we could do about it before, but we've got few extra dollars around here these days, and it's time we got this church back up to snuff. Are you up for the job?"
