Vid Recs Two: this time it's slashy

Jan 01, 2009 14:50

Okay, last time I pointed you towards some vids that capture different aspects that I love about the show itself, but due South fandom is much more than a good canon -- it's all the things we do with that canon. So this time, I want to rec a few vids that tell different stories. Slash stories.

This list is going to reflect a serious pairing imbalance, for which I apologize. I read multiple pairings, but when I started assembling this rec list I discovered that that's not reflected in my vid watching. If anyone would like to correct the gaps in my knowledge by reccing more F/V vids in comments, I would appreciate it!

F/V MFEO cuteness. Roll to Me remastered by gwyn_r, from the original vid by sherrold and Nicole

This vid is simply adorable. Ray loves Benny, and Benny loves Ray.

F/K through two different POVs. Out Here and In the Mirror by heresluck

Out Here gives us Fraser lonely in the wilds of Chicago, and it does an amazing job of conveying a largely internal struggle. In the Mirror shows Kowalski seeing his best self reflected by Fraser. Although not originally intended as companion vids, I simply can't rec one without the other!

The F/K PWP vid. Can't Stop This by voiceless009

This is a remarkably dirty vid, especially considering it's made entirely with footage from the show. voiceless009 takes the most innocent Fraser and Kowalski interactions and turns them into something beyond suggestive. Why do they spend so much time in restrooms anyway?

F/K angst with happy ending. Pavlov's Bell by butterfly

Where's the link, you ask? Okay, here's the thing. Pavlov's Bell was the first vid I saw in due South fandom, and I loved it immediately and beyond reason. But I saw and imprinted on this version, and butterfly has since reworked it. While the second version is probably the stronger vid, I can't not rec the first one. So, two links. Both versions tell a similar story about Fraser and Kowalski, and how Fraser's past interferes with his current relationship.

F/K pure angst. Push by fenlings

Fraser demands too much from Kowalski. Possibly just by being Fraser. If you're OTP about Fraser and Kowalski, this vid may break your heart. If you're me, you follow it up with

K/V angst with happy ending. That's All by sdwolfpup

Loving Ray Kowalski isn't easy, but it's worth it. ♥
