I <3 Canada: "Crossed Paths," "Solstice," and "Cookies"

Title: Crossed Paths
Author: china_shop
Pairing: None (can be read as F/K/V, but it's gen)
Rating: G
Length: 1100 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: This fic gave me something I never, ever knew I needed until I read it, and then I was completely blown away--Vecchio on the quest. It's from the POV of some scientists who run into the boys while they're all looking for the hand of Franklin together! I pretty much died of love. Plus the story is super cute in pretty much every way.

Jools would have gladly offered them free use of the radio, I knew, but she was one who couldn't pass up an offer. "Trade what?"

"Uh, I can whittle," said Kowalski, still pink in the face from laughter.

At his words, Fraser hastened to busy himself unpacking a stove and supplies from their sled, obviously about to offer us tea as if we were at a garden party. Vecchio glanced at Kowalski and then looked away hurriedly, apparently trying to keep from cracking up, also.

"You can whittle one thing," he said in a strangled voice.

"Yeah, but I do it good." Kowalski reached into the pocket of his parka and pulled out a gun.

I startled, my guts churning, but it only took a second to register that the gun was made of wood. It was a toy -- or, more accurately, a miniature facsimile, detailed in every regard.

"It's a Glock 9MM," Kowalski explained.

"You'll have to excuse him," murmured Fraser, appearing suddenly at my side. "He's American."

Title: Solstice
Author: troyswann
Pairing: None (again! What are the odds?)
Rating: um...PG-13 for some violence?
Length: ~6500 words.
Why I'm reccing this fic: Because it's AMAZING. Vecchio is losing it after Vegas, and when he's attacked, he runs...to Canada. There's a whole part at the end with the three of them that basically made my heart grow about four sizes. Seriously, my lungs are feeling squished, guys.

After all the training and the briefings and the endless repetition of codes and addresses and drop locations, the one thing the Feds didn't prepare him for was the realization that if Ray Vecchio was going to survive the mob, Armando Langoustini had to survive too.

Ray wakes with a start that makes the tea slosh out of his cup and over his hand. He jumps again when the backlit shadow beside him shifts closer. Then he recognizes the spiky mess of Kowalski's hair glowing around his head like the most ironic halo ever, and he slumps back into the lumpy cushions of the couch. Kowalski catches the cup before it can tip again and replaces it with a beer before settling down on the coffee table, his own bottle dangling from his fingers between his knees. Looking at him, Ray feels the world go sideways a little, spaces folding together like origami, and the fingers of his free hand twist into the blanket on his lap.

"Okay?" Kowalski asks.

The abrupt silence from the kitchen tells Ray that Fraser has stopped chopping and is waiting for Ray's answer, too.

"Yeah." He's not really sure what okay is, but he'll go with it for now, if only to get the world moving forward. Move along, move along. Nothing to see here.

Title: I'm not sure this actually HAS a title, but it's labelled "Cookies," so let's go with that.
Author: brynnmck
Pairing: F/K/V
Rating: PG-13
Length: ~1750
Why I'm reccing this fic: Because it may actually be the cutest thing I have ever read. Kidfic! Fraser is decorating Halloween cookies with their daughter while Ray and Ray watch. And seriously, cutest fucking thing EVER.

Ray snickered, then-with a quick glance to make sure Angelique was still zeroed in on her cookie-craned his neck back so he could put his mouth close to Vecchio's ear. "Maybe I wear stuff you hate just so you'll wanna take it off me, you ever think about that?"

Vecchio laughed low, slid his cheek along Ray's. "You don't have to work so hard, Kowalski, so maybe you could do my retinas a favor-" and then they were kissing, slow and sweet.

After a few seconds: "Ewwwww," came Angelique's voice from across the room.

It was kind of hard to keep kissing when you were laughing, so after one last quick bite on Vecchio's lower lip, Ray turned a skeptical look on their daughter. "Ewww?" he repeated. "You're six, you're too young to be grossed out by that stuff yet." Behind her, Fraser was watching them, and from the gleam in his eye, Fraser was definitely not thinking ewww, Fraser was thinking maybe later after we put the kid to bed, I can watch Vecchio fuck you through the mattress. Well, Fraser was probably thinking it with bigger words, but it all ended up in the same place.

"Six and a half," Angelique corrected him, and hand to God, there was not much in the world funnier than hearing Fraser's actually, Ray, blah blah blah caribou tone coming out of the mouth of a tiny blonde kid with pigtails and her cheeks smeared with glitter.
