*waves* Hi, I am
sansets and I will be your guest reccer for the week! There are many things about this fandom that I love, but there are very few that will get me as wildly enthusiastic as my OT3 - Fraser/Kowalski/Vecchio. Today's post is going to focus on a celebration of how many different ways there are to get these three stubborn guys into a relationship.
Coming from established relationships:
For this first section, I am going to cheat and highlight how one author can explore three very different established relationships to get to the end relationship of F/K/V.

Soft Arithmetic,
Mosaic, Piece by Piece and
The Invitation coming from established Kowalski/Vecchio, Fraser/Kowalski and Fraser/Vecchio, respectively. What I really love about these stories is how China allowed the tone of the already established relationship to shape how the new relationship unfolds. I have a personal love of Soft Arithmetic because it was the story that really sold me on this pairing, but all three of these stories are wonderfully crafted examples of the ways in which a committed couple could welcome a third person into the mix and not have it backfire horribly.
Coming from previous relationships:
This section is all about how F/K/V can be a unique way of exploring the dynamics of a threesome after of two of the people had previously had a relationship which ended. You know, I looked over every fic that I had bookmarked and I do not believe that I have ever read F/K/V after a K/V or F/V breakup! But in terms of F/K/V after a F/K breakup, I don't know that there is a much better example of this than
brooklinegirl's
Long Road - Long Ride Home. Fraser and Kowalski spend the entire fic dancing around each other and the things that they are resolutely Not Saying and it takes Vecchio (being his awesome Vecchio self) to mix things up and change a relationship that inherently unstable (because BLG does an excellent job of highlighting Fraser and Kowalski's communication problems) into something that is longer lasting and much more satisfying for all three involved.
A whole new spontaneous thing:
And finally, we will end with how the threesome dynamic can be used to explore how difficult it is to just start out without anyone having been in a relationship before.

Excuse Me if I May Be Staring is one of my favorite stories for examining the dynamics of the guys before they take the leap into a relationship. And
Modern Household Gods (or It Takes Three) by
catwalksalone takes gorgeous snapshots of exactly why the guys work so very well together.
And that was that! I will be back later in the week for a post on established F/K/V fics and finishing off my week with everyone's favorite - PWPs! (OK, perhaps not everyone's favorite, but it comes really close to being mine.) In the meantime, feel free to comment with your recs for great first time fics. There are some great stories that I didn't rec because I was going to rec other stories by the same author for my other posts and there are also some great stories that I haven't read yet, so please tell me all about your favorites!
