moon_brain is offering icons over in her journal as a reward for answering the question: what does Ray/Ray and/or F/K/V mean to you? Go! Go see! She's going to make an icon for every comment she gets, plus, OMG, the discussion of our boys that is already there has me all choked up. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEE YOU GUYS I REALLY LOVE THEM A LOT.

It is a matter of personal preference! Which is why I like to have the right-click option, so I can choose to open it in a new window or a new tab if I want.

And actually, I have FF set to automagically transform 'open in new window' into 'open in new tab' - but when I'm in lj and going to another lj page, I generally prefer to have it open in the same window and tab, which there is no way to force. I get a little tired of having all these new tabs showing up which I have to close one by one.

Basically, my argument is that by not forcing a new tab/window you allow the user to make that decision: whether to open in same tab, new tab, or new window. Forcing a new window does not let me choose to open it in the same window. Not forcing a new window allows you to choose to open it in a new window by right-clicking.

I know you have other good qualities! And I don't mean to be critical or get you upset, or anything. Of course you can do what you like. But it does make me a whole lot less likely to follow links that you post, either in communities or your journal, because I find it so very annoying to have to close all those tabs (especially when there is a whole series of links).
