due to me finding out that ds_match has been deleted and purged due to inactivity, I'm just posting this so this comm appears active and will be left alone.
Seriously, what?! Augh! I thought they said ages ago they'd only do that to empty comms!
ETA: I just checked my email/comment replies, and I don't think very much happened at ds_match -- it may even have been empty. All the admin/organising happened on the team comms, iirc, and the fic was posted to ds_flashfiction for a wider audience. Just so you know. (Phew!)
Given how often lj change the rules without telling people and given that my own lj got deleted by accident a while back in a big purge of something or other that took out a whole bunch of comms (after which I saw a lot of comm maintainers have to ask lj for reinstatement), I thought better be safe than sorry!
And, yeah, my memory is not great at the best of times, but I couldn't remember ds_match being used in a big way. So better that one than any other, I suppose. *clings to all the good stuff we made*
Importing comms to DW is a thing you can do, yes! You could import it to the DW flashfic comm, even. I think it would be a good thing to do, to safeguard against LJ's purging sprees, because there's so much fic in this comm.
I get that people might object to it because it's archiving without permission, but maybe if you first posted to the LJ comm and to the noticeboard, to let people know about it and give them a chance to object if they're going to? And then leave info at the DW comm telling people you can delete their work from there if they want? What do you think? It's really no different than what AO3 is doing, with importing whole archives to save them.
Hey, btw, I never did anything about this, and I'm really unlikely to ever get around to it. If you want to (or know anyone who does), let me know and I can give you mod access if necessary.
Er, well, the question is if I'm likely to get around to it, either. But I will pass it on to someone who might--it really would be a pity if this comm were purged. Thanks!

Yes!! I may look into importing ds_flashfiction in AO3 when I get a moment, for safety's sake.

Does Dreamwidth allow importing of comms now?
