* Haven't been commenting much on anything, and not at all on this challenge but I wanted to say, in fairness to the writer, that I have no idea how much I liked this story because it was so long, and the Angst site's low contrast lay-out and the way the story is formatted combined to make it physically hard to read. I'm not big on temporal discontinuity in any case, but having to search out obscure visual cues in a 19,000 word story makes it hard to stay in the emotional groove needed to appreciate this story.

Sorry to hear the dark grey on white design of my website is hard for you to read. I have the same trouble with black on white (letters swim and give me a migraine).

I would like to suggest that you use your browser's View menu to adjust the page so that you can read it more easily.

To do this in Firefox:
Click on View.
Scroll to Page Style and select "no style".

And, of course, you can adjust your Text Size on the View menu as well. (I believe comparable options are available on the view menus of all browsers, in case you don't use Firefox.) Hopefully this will be helpful to you as you work your way through the challenge fics, especially as quite a few of them are far too long for a single LJ entry (day before yesterday, we posted a story that was over 30,000 words :D).

I do hope you'll have time to leave feedback on the stories you enjoy here. I know all our authors would appreciate it. :)

jesse_the_k has a great link below for a tab that you add to the Firefox toolbar at the top that makes everything b/w and gorgeously legible. (I often cut and paste or highligh text to read, so I'm *very* happy)

Wow! That's so, so cool -- no more cutting and pasting into text files! *does the happy dance*

I'm glad you liked it. It wasn't easy to write, but worth it, I hope. Also, thanks for the "zap x" page link. I have used it to zap a number of things, including annoying plugins like automatically playing music. What a cool page of tools.

This story is really, truly fantastic. I love what an intelligent author can do with shifting the temporal structure of a story - it forces the reader have a much more active relationship with the fic rather than allowing them to do a more passive, cursory reading. I know that I hung on every word trying to figure out what the hell was going on! Add in a kick ass story and some lovely characterization and you've got yourself a mighty darned good fic. And now I have to go and hunt myself up a copy of Hard Core Logo....my curiosity is piqued.

Wow... um, wow. Thank you very, very much! I'm very grateful! I'm really glad that the story grabbed you that way. That's pretty much what I was going for, and I was fairly worried it wasn't going to work! So thanks again, and sorry for the tardy thank you.
