Hawkeye Pierce - the man, the myth, the maverick

Before being drafted into the US Army for the Korean War, Hawk lived in a small Maine community called Crabapple Cove. He loves his hometown. His mother died when he was 10 years old. He is a qualified MD and a talented trauma (and later cardiothoracic) surgeon from the 1950s and served at the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital in South Korea. Hawkeye was opposed to the "police action" that took place in Korea and did whatever he could to keep the horror of war from smothering him into insanity.
After the war, Hawk returned home to Crabapple Cove and started up a private general practice. The mundane life of a small town doctor became more and more of a burden over the three years that he was back in Crabapple Cove. In the end, as much as he loved his hometown, he couldn't stand to be there anymore. He certainly didn't crave the bloodbath of war, but he'd seen too much to settle down at home again.
He doesn't know how the job offer ended up in his possession. All his father said was that a man in a black suit delivered it. Hawkeye has no experience with school administration. In fact, he's downright belligerent towards authority in general (and it's a wonder he didn't get kicked out of the Army for gross insubordination) and has stated many a time that he's not very good at giving orders. However, he is a good man, a good mentor when it comes down to it and will do everything within his power to keep the system honest.
The job may not be medicine, but everyone deserves a break and it got him out of Maine without having to go back to Korea. Besides, how bad could a place called 'Fandom' be?
Personality:
Hawkeye's life has previously revolved around war, surgery, alcohol, practical jokes and women. The war and surgery parts of his life are gone for now, so he fully intends to embrace the alcohol, jokes and women to the best of his ability. He has a dry wit, an aversion to guns and violence, and the tendency to go on long-winded diatribes when angered.
Dress:
Hawkeye is very casual. He's usually seen wearing a maroon bathrobe and a cowboy hat, even when at work. When he's out on the town, you'll find him wearing some ridiculous Hawaiian shirt. His drink of choice is a delectable dry martini.
Living Quarters:
Hawkeye now lives in a shared house called The Bachelor Pad at 18 Apocalypse Avenue, Fandom. He shares with Joshua Lyman, Jarod, Mary Poppins and Yomiko Readman.
Office:
In his office there's a desk, chair and bookcase, there's a comfortable fold out couch bed to sleep on, a record player and a still made by himself and Logan Echolls.
What the Vice-Principal Does:
Who knows? He wanders around, gives the Principal and Deans a hard time and generally finds himself involved in the goings-on of the school. He probably does some paperwork too, but he's hardly ever seen doing it.
