Some people listen to music...

As a dude who sits at a desk drawing all day, I like to have something going to keep the left side of my brain occupied during while I'm creating the awesome. A lot of folks listen to their iTunes or NPR, but because of my lifelong habit of drawing in class, I prefer having some talking heads while I work. So, thanks to digital video capabilities, cable, and the internet, I watch a LOT of television. A heck of a lot more than I did when I was limited by when things actually air, anyway. I also watch about three documentaries a week and sometimes go through seasons of older shows on DVD (Buffy Season 3 is on deck).

Also, I use a website called Next-Episode to keep track of the shows I'm currently watching (and Yahoo's Personalized TV Listings for checking what's on), and I thought I'd share my Watchlist with y'all. I had to add in the news shows, and this includes some shows I don't really care for, but help pass the day while I'm drawing comics and commissions. ;)

The Watchlist.
(Faves in bold.)

24 - Not as good as the first few seasons, but Jack's still cool.
30 Rock - Took a few eps to really find its footing, but Fey & Baldwin rule.
60 Minutes - The Daily Show is a gateway news show. I watch TONS of news...and CSPAN sometimes.
American Idol - Mildly entertaining. Go Blake!
Battlestar Galactica - Great, great show. This season finale was incredible.
BBC World News - World news that actually covers the WORLD. Good stuff.
Cold Case - Kinda silly sometimes, but I like it alright.
CSI - My official response is that I hate CSI. But the main show's not THAT bad.
CSI: New York - On the other hand, CSI:NY isn't so great, and...
CSI: Miami - is just awful. But I'm only half paying attention anyway. The colors are nice.
Dexter - Excellent first season. Looking forward to the next.
Dirt - I'm on the fence about this show. Sometimes I love it, sometimes I couldn't care less.
Doctor Who - BRILLIANT. Tennant's the best Doctor since Tom Baker, imo.
Drive - Apparently getting canceled. Way to give it the old Firefly try, Fox.
Entourage - Just started watching, and I love it. Need to watch the first two seasons.
Everybody Hates Chris - I love this show. I didn't expect to, but it's really funny.
Family Guy - Meh. I get about one laugh per episode. It's better than American Dad, though.
Frontline - Love it. One of the best news/info shows on.
Heroes - I didn't like it in the begining and yes it's X-Men (and now Watchmen), but it's fun.
House - Seems to be on the downslope, but I'm still watching.
Independent Lens - Usually really good.
Jericho - I really like Jericho. A Lot more satisfying than the more popular hourlongs.
Law & Order - I'm really sick of the ripped-from-the-headlines crap, but still watching.
Law & Order: Criminal Intent - I usually like it, even the Logan episodes.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit - It's got Munch. Who can resist?
Life on Mars - GREAT series. I hear there's an American version in the works.
Lost - Desmond's my fave now. I miss Mr. Eko. :(
Medium - Every episode is great. The family dynamics, the mysteries, all great.
My Name Is Earl - A little hit or miss lately, but when it's on, it's great.
MythBusters - Gotta love a show that just blows crap up. Plus Adam looks like newjason.
Nova - Great stuff. I feel smart for watching. :P
Prison Break - Like Heroes, it's not as good as it thinks it is, but it's fun.
Project Runway - Just waiting on the next season.
Rome - Just watched the first two seasons a couple weeks back, and I LOVE it. Great show.
Saturday Night Live - I think they've been really ON lately. Love the Weekend Updates.
Sleeper Cell - The first two seasons were AWESOME. I'm hoping they come back for a third.
Smallville - Ugh. I'm just watching to maintain my superhero expert status.
South Park - Always uncomfortable. Always unpredictable. Always good.
Spongebob Squarepants - I still watch episodes I've seen a dozen times.
Stargate Atlantis - Really good series, great heir to the SG legacy.
Stargate SG-1 - Not as good without Jack, but I'll see it through to the end.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip - I hope this show doesn't get canceled. And the skits get better.
'Til Death - I don't usually get into the plain sitcoms, but I really like this one.
The Chaser's War on Everything - Great Australian news/comedy show.
The Colbert Report - Never miss an episode.
The Daily Show - Most impressive show on television if only for its diverse capabilities.
The Knights of Prosperity - Got into it late, but it's really good.
The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer - Again, blame the Daily Show. Solid news here.
The Office - I like it even more than the British version, which is unheard of.
The Riches - GREAT NEW SHOW! WATCH IT. Just, yeah, awesome.
The Sarah Silverman Program - Trying a little too hard, but funny.
The Shield - Love those gritty crime dramas.
The Simpsons - Yeah, I'm still watching. Barely.
The Sopranos - Theme song gets me every time.
The Unit - Mildy entertaining. The wives get on my nerves, though.
The Venture Brothers - Great, great show for us nerds.
The Wire - Easily the best crime show on television.
This American Life - Great new show spining out of the radio program of the same name.
Veronica Mars - The network is being a jerk, enforcing rules, threatening cancelation.
Without a Trace - I'd way rather watch this than another L&O ripped-from-the-headlines ep.

See, I told you, a LOT of tv. And yes, I'm sorry your office doesn't have the same entertainment policy we have here at Dean Trippe Studios. :P
