Bad Comic Characters #001: The Rainbow Raider

Apr 23, 2010 17:11

So I'm starting a new Friday tradition. Please take it as a disclaimer that yes, I realize that some of these characters may be good characters (as in quality), but this thing is about the bad concepts and backstories.

BEHOLD! The Rainbow Raider!

Yeah, Rainbow Pride.
Roy G. Bivolo dreamed of becoming an artist despite being color blind, why he didn't just become a sculptor is unknown. Roy's daddy, an optometrist, vowed to find a cure for his son's disorder. He didn't manage it before he died, but somehow he managed to make a pair of goggles that created solid beams of rainbow colored light. How solid beams of rainbow colored light is related to a cure for colorblindness is also unknown. Anyway, Roy turned to crime because no one could appreciate art and presumably, no one called him a Waam-bulance. So, dubbing himself the hopefully unintentionally hilarious name of the Rainbow Raider, he went off destroying art galleries and attracted the attention of the Flash (Barry Allen), and has been a Rogue ever since. In addition, he's completely straight, and those beams of colored light he uses can also induce emotions in people and create slides for him to use as transportation (like Frozone of "the Incredibles" or Iceman's but without the coolness awesome). Unsurprisingly, Mr. Raider is a Silver Age character.
