Make-Up tip of the day

~Fabulous Lashes~

Number 1 awesome lash factor is a lash curler. Get a good one, make sure the pad is rounded and not flat (bent lashes aren't cute, you want CURL). Now curl those clean lashes and apply your mascara on top! It makes such a difference. Your eyes will look more open and brighter.

And since it's my first make up tip... here's a bonus:

When applying your mascara make sure you do the "zig-zag" motion and not just top to bottom. Start at the lash line and really wiggle it in there to get the roots. Apply about 3 coats for that false lash look. Add a tiny bit to the lower lashes, you want tint not length on the bottom. And for that added drama- to achieve a more "cat-eye" look hold your mascara wand upward pointing to the tip of your ear and get the lashes on the outter corner of your eye. I do this on every client and you would think I just handed them $100 by their excited reaction.

Most importantly- when it comes to lashes, if you want to keep them healthy REMOVE your make up EVERY NIGHT!! This is so important!!! Also, make sure you replace your mascara every 3 months, this stuff is a magnet for bacteria... anything older than 3 months is waiting to give you some kind of infection. Last, and the thing that really makes me cringe- don't PUMP the mascara tube- you're just pumping air in there causing it to dry out quicker, wiggle the wand around to get out what you need. Now when you see your friends pumping and and not curling you need to correct this behavior.

While I'm at it... some of my mascara recommendations- Dior Show Blackout ($24) does EVERYHING... lengthens, volumizes and curls. It's a jet black formula enriched with KOHL (which is super nourishing to the eye area and promotes lash growth). This is probably the best of the best. Another great one to try is Fiberwig ($22). This was featured on a few TV shows including Rachel Ray's talk show (I didn't even know she had one but clients come in asking about it). This will only lengthen but if you take the time you can build your lashes up to your brows. This stuff is intense, it's a formula enriched with thousands of tiny black fibers that latch onto your lashes. The skies the limit with this stuff when it comes to building length. I use it as a base on a lot of clients and then apply black out on top for the most dramatic lashes. Finally, if you're looking to save some money, Sephora Brand's Lash Plumper($16) is just like Black Out- it might just take one or 2 more coats to achieve the same look since the brush is softer and we're releasing Sephora Brand's Lash Stretcher any day now ($16) which is the same as Fiberwig! Go treat yourself to new mascara, you deserve it!

Hehe... make up is serious biz. This is stuff they don't teach us gals in school.
Stay tuned for more tips from your favorite Sephora make up artist =)
