Oryx and Crake part 6

No preamble today, still recovering fatigue points from Potter binge. I'd give details but GURPS doesn't have mechanics for mental fatigue points. Maybe they could be tied to general fatigue?

Subchapters: Bottle, Oryx, Birdcall

Summary    We left off confirming that Snowman is a petty, impulsive little shit; this subchapter is more ( Read more... )

oryx and crake

yes yes very nice summary, so impressed by your 'try hard to be post-postmodernist' viewpoints and internet-lit buffoon jargon...

k let's set u straight then shall we?

oryx and crake is NOT supposed to throw up moral commentary, so stop attempting to rip it off for that. to make it easier for u to get, think of it as questioning what morals are instead, if they are anything.
jimmy is presented as a human, that's the point really - and you and any other person on earth would commit suicide or turn into a petty asshole too in snowman's situation.
it's a dystopic, post-apocalyptic novel designed, like '1984' and all the others, to juxtapose humanity against perfection - snowman vs. crakers, jimmy vs. snowman, pleeblands vs. compounds, science vs. nature... there's the outer layer where jimmy isn't human at all without other humans - leading onto the investigation into humanity bla bla.. dehumanisation shown in oryx (as result of stolen/shitty childhood), dehumanisation shown in general society (genetic engineering), the perfect compound life... bla bla

its formulaic, you're right, but it isn't as postmodern as you think. nor is it so terrible. actually, it's basically an imitation of modernist texts, just a little less obvious with satire and more open with sex. it ticks off the values in all good books, so who are you to judge? thought it would make you smart and 'out-of-stream' to rip it to shreds? how can u call snowman the shithead when u are just as bitter and annoying?

bet no one can find a novel u wouldn't be able to shit on, so what's the point in posting derogatory information on authors' work? go outside and play some sport. you'll feel better about the world.

I think that your distaste with this analysis might have come off as more intelligent if you had bothered to use proper grammar and spelling. This is always considered to be a good thing. It makes you look intelligent as opposed to a Troll.

Therefor, before anyone takes you seriously, I suggest going back and rewriting this in a proper manner. Once this is done, I'm sure people would be more than happy to give a response.

So if it hits the 'values in all good books', wouldn't THAT be the bandwagon?

Whoops. You're an idiot.

OH NO! GEOMETRY!

there's the outer layer where jimmy isn't human at all without other humans - leading onto the investigation into humanity bla bla.. dehumanisation shown in oryx (as result of stolen/shitty childhood), dehumanisation shown in general society (genetic engineering), the perfect compound life... bla bla

Yada yada? If you are bored enough to insert that sort of "meaningless babble" phrase into your opinion, why respond in the first place? Most philosophers try to treat every word as if it were golden.

bet no one can find a novel u wouldn't be able to shit on, so what's the point in posting derogatory information on authors' work? go outside and play some sport. you'll feel better about the world.

Hssss... the sun! She burns us. And we are uncoordinated. *flails*

Not that I know anything about Dryaunda's condition but that would be why I stick wit' mah Pokemon, indoors. *major thumbs up and sparkling grin*
