I find it somewhat sad that only a few of the people on my friends list still post here on a semi-regular basis. Many of my friends haven't posted here for a year or more, some it's been a few months. Sure, I'm one to talk since I don't post often either--but I'm not posting anywhere else either. I don't see the sense in that twitter thing... I mean really? Do I want to know "every step you take, every move you make"? (Yes, I know many of you will recognize that line, some won't.) I certainly don't want the world to know that much about me! And I think that facebook is evil for the most part. I had a page there once upon a time--and the site gave my main computer enough viruses that I had to "brain-wipe" it all the way back to factory new settings. I got a good firewall/anti-virus/anti-everything program running and tried one more time for about 15 minutes, running the program as soon as I got off the site and it found another 6 viruses! I had run it just before going on the site and it had nothing. Every time I run it, it usually finds nothing. On the rare occasion that it find something it's usually just ad-ware. Anyway, I jumped back on facebook long enough to deactivate my page and make it go away and haven't been back since. That was several years ago, but I fear that's where most of my friends post nowdays.... perhaps one day I'll have a garbage computer that I am willing to use for facebook only and will catch up with friends again. But not with a computer I actually use or value!
On another note, I'm trying to get back into writing again. I've got stories that I started decades ago that are still good ideas, so I'm trying to get them typed into my computer from the old notebooks I hand-wrote them in. Then I'll be able to work on them again. It helps that a local friend is trying to put together a writer's group. :) If we can only get schedules to mesh...
I'm still unemployed. :( I find it annoying and frustrating that so many places only accept applications on-line. So some computer is going to sort through my answers before a human ever gets to see it. Really annoying.
On the plus side, I've registered for some adult-education classes on using some of the primary computer programs. It's sad, but most elementary school kids probably know more about how to use a computer than I do. I use basic Word all the time, but need to learn advanced functions for that. I need to know Excel functions--again, I use it all the time, but only for making lists of things (CDs, DVDs, etc)--I need to learn the formulas and spreadsheets and stuff like that. I need to learn Powerpoint because I have no clue on that, and it seems that Access is also something useful to know. So I have all that to look forward to starting next month.
And I'm going down to FL to visit the family while I have the free time. Mom's paying for the trip, so I can't argue too much. I'll be there for my nephew's birthday at least. He's 8 this year--hard to believe.
That's all for now.
