ACL fest
It was awesome. I feel inspired about music again which is very cool. We got to see David Burns, a bit of Antibalas, and Manu Chao Friday night. It was very cool to see David Burn still rockin' it.
Saturday we saw Bavu Blakes, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, Erikah Badu, The Black Keys, and Beck. Erica Badu blew me away. She was so freakin' awesome. I knew she was really talented but I had no idea what seeing her live would be like. And it was fantastic. And it most likely was not one of her best performances considering she was somewhat limited due to being pregnant. I also looooved the Black Keys. It was great to be introduced to them live. The sound wasn't loud enough but I still really enjoyed the show. For Beck we were so far back it was hard to see much. The show was good but was probably much better closer up.
And yesterday I got to see Neko Case and the Raconteurs. I was very happy to see the Raconteurs. Watching Jack White play guitar is entertaining all by itself but the band put on a great show. Apparently he had a slipped disk or something so he was saying he might not be playing as well but I sure couldn't tell. I'm sure he felt like he couldn't cancel since the White Stripes canceled last years show.
I really wanted to see the Kills but it didn't work out. I also really wanted to see N.E.R.D but they played the same time as David Burns. In spite of missing a couple of must see's I had a great time this year. Oh, and taking the bus from our house worked out perfectly. We didn't have to deal with parking and it dropped us off right at Lamar and Barton Springs on the way there and right in front of our neighborhood on the way home.
