the past two months or so have been fairly interesting. i spent 12 days in colombia, mainly to spend time with my grandmother, who turned 80, but also because i haven't been there much in the past 12 years. while in colombia we flew to the coast becuase my mom found out that in a specific bay area humpback whales and dolphins migrate every year to have their babies. i got to swim with them. and i took a shit ton of pictures, 35 mm and digital, and once i get my shit together i'll put them on this here internet for you. after colombia i took a mini vacation to south haven with dana abby and kristi. even though it hasn't really been discussed in so many words, i think i have a girlfriend now. after that, the tour started, so i had a whole two days to recover from the colombia trip before we went on tour. long drive to Minnesota, stayed with Greg and Stephanie, played with a band from louisiana. drove to st. louis two days later to have the show shut down because the owner of the club had his business liscence revoked. drove back to kalamazoo that same night. long drive, but it was nice to sleep in my bed for a change. played kraftbrau the following evening, made enough money to drive to boston. boston was awesome, fred barney put us up for two nights, in the most well-kept house i've ever been inside (i know there are grammar issues in that sentence). after a great show in boston at the middle east, we drove to brooklyn, played at show at the trash bar, which was ok, josh freaked out a little bit after the show, but he was really drunk so we let it slide. we had the following day off, so i watched movies and did nothing the whole day. the following day i did laundry for everybody and watched Snatch at the laundry mat on wayne's computer. then we played at this cool bar called Sputnik (also in brooklyn). We played with a hippie jam band, a dave mathews-ish band, a hardcore band, and a grunge/metal band. we played last and everybody was gone by the time we played. i drove to the edge of new york and paid for us to stay in a crappy motel. it was really crappy. in the morning we made our way to buffalo, sure to take our time getting there. had a really fun show and got taken care of by liz and veronica from the raven society. we tried to go to our last show in richmond, virginia, but the van broke down on the new york border. so i paid to have it towed 30 miles to the closest mechanic that was open, and they were actually really cool about it and only charged us 20 bucks to look at the van. turned out the fuel pump was going bad, the managed to get the van to start up again by kicking the gas tank, and then they told us that we could have it fixed for $650, or we could try and get home the way it was, and if it shut down again, we could try kicking the tank and it might start. we took our chances and made it home.
i am drunk now and i think i may edit this tomorrow because i don't think that i've done that great of a job telling my stories from the past month.
