I shouldn't be jealous; I'm his girlfriend, while you were nothing more than a convenient acquaintance up until you betrayed everyone. But I can't help this anger, this burning resentment that I feel every time I see him with that distant smile, when I know he is thinking about you.
Why can't he love me like that? I'd give up anything, everything, for him to look at me like that just once. I'd give up forever for just one moment, one instant when he felt for me what he feels for you.
I should have felt triumphant when you left. But as I sat there cradling him, all I could feel was this painful need to see him crying for me the way he wept for you.
What did you do to deserve his unconditional love? You pulled pranks and got him in trouble, you teased him about the things he values. You tore out his heart when you abandoned him. I put him back together after what you did. I gave him back his strength. So why does he love you and not me?
I'd give up forever for him, but somehow, I don't think it would be enough.
