For those of you who don't already know, there has been a strike scheduled for Friday, March 21st, 2008, during which we hope to have many members of LiveJournal provide LJ with absolutely no content for twenty-four hours. does this community have a ij equivilent?

and do you know, is there any way of a massive copy paste to move all old fics? because this site has been around since 2003, and it would suck if everything got lost because of livejournal's douche-baggery.

this community doesn't have a gj or ij equivalent so far, I might speak with the other mods and see if they think there should be. But I've had many a message from time to time about archiving things off-site as it were and I suppose it would require the consent of authors.

A friend just pointed out that the strike would only lighten their server loads for a day which would be doing them a favour.

The stike only works if LJ cares about the numbers for that day. If they cared about numbers more than money, they wouldn't be cutting off new free users.

Thoughts?

you have a point there, but I think it's more about saying 'we can move away from LJ if we choose'
