Status update!
A month and a half in, I'm loving the new job. It can be hectic and there's some stress, but now I get to actually help people. It makes all the difference in the world. Getting along well with my new coworkers as well, so that's definitely good. Everything seems mostly rosy so far; hopefully it stays that way. I'm feeling a lot better about my work now, in any case. I'm also noticing that my weight is starting to creep up a bit; now that I'm no longer doing ungodly amounts of heavy lifting every night, I'm going to have to start being vigilant about eating and exercising, but... it's a small price to pay.
On the gaming front, I recently picked up Planescape: Torment. The game... has its fair share of flaws, but they did a LOT of things right here. The VA cast, in particular, is fantastic--Tony Jay, John DeLancie, AND Keith David? Talk about win. Also you can literally talk the endboss to death.
This isn't to say that the game is without its fair share of flaws, of course. For one thing, the experience curve doesn't really keep up very well if you have a full party (since XP is divided among your party members). For another, there's the whole Curst/Baator/Carceri segment--someone referred to it as the "Hell's Arse World Tour", and I find that to be fairly accurate. It is a NIGHTMARISH SLOG, and god help you if you didn't load up on supplies before leaving Curst. Still more annoying, once you leave Carceri you can never come back to any of these regions; anything you've missed is gone. Still, for all of its flaws, I really, really, really enjoyed the game; I'm glad I backed the sequel on Kickstarter. :D
Also I'm playing Fallen London/Echo Bazaar now; my character there is Elias Cain, if anyone reading this happens to play. Not much else going on at the moment, aside from a minor coding project I'm messing with.
...but man, it's nice getting some actual sunlight now, for a change.
