This last week has sucked.
From the top:
Scheduled two weeks of partial vacation in an effort to focus on the winter tourney, "Written in the Stars"; I had very high hopes. Week one worked out great--I feel I really got off to a good start with the writing. Then came the second week.
The writing didn't go so well in week two. Actually, nothing went so well in week two, due to a huge ice storm tearing a path of destruction across pretty much the entire state (and a few other states for good measure!) Power died (and took running water with it), landlines were scrambled, and even the cellular grid got scrambled for awhile.
Fast forward... eight days? Nine days, now? Something like that. Still no power, still no running water, though by now the ice has melted and the phone system seems to be working again. I am, for the time being, able to connect to the internet via laptop and a modem connected to a power brick (surge protector with battery backup)--at least enough to check e-mail/chat on IRC/whine in LJ posts, heh--but I would cheerfully kill someone to get electricity back on here (I want a BATH T_T).
Anyway, enough whining--at least I still have a roof over my head. Mostly I'm just writing this post to let everyone know I'm still alive; when they get the power back on, I'll be back for real. Hopefully they'll have power back on within a couple of days, but more realistic estimates give it at least three to four days, and worst case scenarios have it as taking a MONTH or more (oh dear god no). It can't come soon enough for me, but there's no hurrying utility workers, it seems.
