I went to a book signing back in the Spring. Sarah Dessen was signing her newest book, Lock and Key, which is fantastic. I wanted to meet her because her words and stories are so poignant and impeccable. She's the type of writer that I could only dream of being. While at the signing I got the chance to ask when she felt like she was officially a writer and she said that it was when she sold her first novel... then she revised and said it was when she finished her first story. A story that didn't sell, mind you.
Today, I became a writer. My original story is just over 125 pages long and 78,000 words. There is a lot of work to do on it... but it's all done. It's all down on paper. It's finished.
