I used to love being sick when I was a kid. Getting to stay home for a day, being pampered and lazy. I loved it.
Until I got a viral pneumonia once. It was at the end of a horrible skiing trip. Or actually snowboarding trip. It sucked from all sides, but I managed to get sick on the last day too.
I spent two weeks at home. Suddenly being sick wasn't any fun. Well the last few days maybe. The days where I felt lively enough to actually get out of bed and walk around. I remember working on a scale model of an Apache helicopter. That's about all I did.
It was so bad, I couldn't eat food. All I could stomach the first few days was fluids and banana milkshakes.
Why do I bring that up? Because I'm sick. And I hate it. I had a splitting headache sunday. Did nothing much all day, except watch Buffy (season 1, on DVD, in just about one sitting.) Yesterday morning the headache was still there, so I called into work, told em I was sick, and went back to sleep. Yesterday afternoon I was actually doing OK. Felt a little weak, but that's to be expected eh? Especially after a rather good start to the weekend.
Friday night was Pump Up The 90's Party. Me, Mart, Bjank, Rups & Miepie all went to Amsterdam and had a grand time seeing acts from the 90s perform. Some sucked, like (unfortunately) Whigfield. But others rocked, like Snap! and Culture Beat.
Rups had heard from someone that a club in Den Haag had house classics night, so after the party in Amsterdam, we headed back to our beloved city and went clubbing. Fatigue soon hit us, and after a bit we went home. Good thing too, since I had to drop everybody off. And saturday was the 10th edition of the PULP. Our little Pallas Ultimate LAN Party. 15-20 people, lotsa gaming. Starts at noon, lasts till early in the morning. I finally got home and in bed at 7am.
So yeah, good times, but draining. I'm now not sure what the hell is wrong with me, but my temperature is up, so I'm guessing a flu or cold.
I actually did go to work this morning. Felt a little better. But alas, bout an hour or so after lunch I felt my headache returning and even had a little trouble keeping steady footing while I was looking for my boss.
Must be a "bug" going around. Someone at the PULP went home sick after only a few hours.
Time to chill.
