Icicle Ridge Winery's website

Myself, lawdogman, winterjaye, and rendertarget visited Icicle Ridge Winery Tasting Room in Leavenworth on Sunday, September 20th. They offered a reasonable tasting of five wines for $2.50 per person, which was waived with purchase. They offered 11 different wines on their tasting menu, so lawdogman and I decided to maximize our tasting by sharing each and taste the full menu. And sure enough by the time we made it through the list the ladies working the tasting room were having such a good time with us that they let us taste the last item on the menu for free. Next time we will have to visit the winery itself. Between summer concerts and winter snowshoeing through the vineyard, not to mention some really amazing wine, Icicle Ridge has proven itself to be a destination. They do not sell their wine through distribution, but they do ship it.

Our favorites (and consequently the ones we ended up purchasing) were:

2008 The Blondes Gewürztraminer
At $23.00 per bottle, it's a fabulous sweet white wine. I love the label almost as much as I loved the wine. This brand new Three Blondes Gewurztraminer exhibits a balanced palate true to its traditions. It is absolutely citrusy with pineapple, lemon and the slightest hint of grapefruit.

2008 Huckleberry Riesling
Available to Wine Club Members Only, we were able to get a taste and we scooped up the last bottle they had in the tasting room for a great price of $25.00. It is packed with crisp flavors of apple, peach and of course huckleberry. It is a beautiful rose color and is bright and sweet. A very small production makes this a wine to treasure!

Chocolate Cherry Passion
This specialty desert wine runs $28.50 per bottle, but worth it if you enjoy syrupy desert wines. Lush, deep red juicy cherries aged with dark rich chocolate- What a way to finish an evening! This dessert wine is the perfect ending to a dinner with friends, although sharing may be hard after you taste this incredible wine. Pour in small amounts for sipping or drizzle over New York Cheesecake for the perfect dessert! Enjoy!
