As a Science Fiction fan I´ve read a good number of the Michael Crichton novels (The Andromeda Strain, Jurassic Park, The Terminal Man and Eaters of the Death) but never have had the chance to put my hands in this one.
TITLE: TIMELINE
AUTHOR: MICHAEL CRICHTON
The Novel follows the adventures of a group of Archeologists and Historians who are working in the remains of a medieval village in France.
When their Team Leader, Professor Johnston, disappears and they found a message from him in the remains writen in ink and on a paper used in the 14th centurie, seems that the company who sponsor the archeologists work has the answer:
The Professor´s travelled back in time to 1357 thanks to a "quantum foam wormhole", and they are the only one who could rescue their mentor.
That´s the begining of the medieval and science adventure signed by Crichton.
From my point of view I can´t say this novel goes beneath the "The Best of Crichton", but it is a very interesting book, and I ´ve really, really enjoyed it thanks to the hability of Crichton to remain as a master of narrative.
In fact I found myself reading it from back to back in a couple of days due to the magnificient medieval adventure, so I totally agree with the critic in Los Angeles Times:
"... Compulsive Reading.."
Michael Crichton passed away a few months ago, and though his work has had detractors, I can´t avoid calling myself a fan of his novels, because in my opinion they have given to The Science Fiction a serious and scientific side.
Well, I recomend the book to everyone who enjoy the adventure and SciFi tales.
