jack and jill

crosshatch your prose with faceless delirium
as your fancies lay splayed like withered virgins left to dry.
lucidity wanes into sunspots
as we lay these tattered garments o'er the rusty well.
brush the feathered streams of hair from your once-emboldened gaze
and interlace these fingertips worn with vanilla chagrin.
in the distance a precarious chimney belts out overworked reminders of yesteryear. we fluctuate between regret and a languished yearning.
rest your forehead on a flimsy tethered post in attempt to shake this dizzying semblance of a worthier reality. acres and acres of greener pastures.
sweet breezes of remembrance still echo through these lonely dales,
concave and ghostly embodiments of your former rhapsody.
whipping into an imminent fervor, we grasp hands and overlook the birthplace of our ambrosial passion.
perhaps its rediscovery waits across the boundless moor,
lying naked alongside my conviction and your modesty.
