PERCEPTION OF EXISTENCE RESTS UPON NOTICING ABSENCES AND LACKS AS WELL AS PRESENCES
I'm supposed to be working on my vinyl installation for alternative typography right now, but all I keep doing is looking up stuff about New Zealand and daydreaming about being over there.
THIS IS WHERE I WILL BE FOR 10 WEEKS --> Dunedin, pronounced duh-need-in, with a population of 112,000, is the South Island's second-largest city and the commercial center for the Otago region. Its name is the old Gaelic one for Edinburgh - appropriate since Scottish Presbyterians established the city. It is a gracious city whose numerous grand 19th century and Edwardian buildings are unrivalled anywhere in the Southern Hemisphere.
So so fitting. I was just telling someone about how Edinburgh is my favourite city I've ever visited and I'd love to work there some day. Dunedin isn't a huge ass city and it sounds like exactly the kind of atmosphere I like. I'm getting SO FREAKIN' EXCITED for this summer. My parents getting down on me about money issues isn't even going to dampen my spirits. I don't care how in debt I go over this, I'm going and I'm going to have an AMAZING time.
I'm supposed to get all the paperwork tomorrow for the internship, and i'm all antsy, I just want to get the ball rolling already! I want to buy my plane ticket and get started booking everything I need to book.
Sometimes when I think about this summer I get so excited I spazz out...like right now for example.
Okay, really I need to be getting my work done so I don't completely fail at life. I'm actually pretty in to what i'm doing for alt type right now. We had to interpret the phrase "you can't create something out of nothing"/the idea of "nothing" in general and create a statement that we're going to install on a surface within the building. There's going to be 18 random statements in vinyl all over the art building, it should be quite neat to see because we've all go something different to say. My statement is: "PERCEPTION OF EXISTENCE RESTS UPON NOTICING ABSENCES AND LACKS AS WELL AS PRESENCES"...i'm going to install it on the floor of the hallway running approximately 31 feet with some ellipses appearing before the statement that will sort of solidify what is being said........if that makes sense. I'll post pictures when It's actually installed. I'm just glad I already know what i'm doing - now all I have to do is get it all into production.
