i reached out hesitantly

today was three trains and four busses. that's a lot of public transport for an ordinary monday.
today was sun and surprising warmth and wearing the heaviest jeans i own.
today was speed shopping for white skinnies, and finding a perfect pair within twenty minutes.
today was observing. taking lessons from the things i saw.
today was finding motivation.
today was keeping my mouth closed even when i wanted to let the words roll out.
today was frustration with myself because i promised myself i'd stop doing that.
today was regulating my voice, finding structured sentences to give words to the people who speak with their hands.
today was an apple to a growling stomach, a salmon sandwich to a body that needed to be nourished.
today was the feeling of a cool shower after a sweaty bikeride home.

and yesterday..

yesterday was a show.

i performed contemporary on stage, in a show with utrechts centre of the arts, where i take my contemporary classes. i enjoyed it immensely, there's something about standing in the wings in your costume and make up, waiting to go on. the way the light hits the stage and the music and the applause before you step (or roll, in our case) on. those heart thundering moments, strung high on nerves, with the whispers and the hush-hush go-go atmosphere, those are my favourite.

it went really well, we took our applause and flowers and i glowed a little bit. in a few weeks i've got a ballet show with my other dance school, and though that'll be different, i'm looking forward to that now.

tomorrow i've got my drivers exam. cross your fingers for me?

shut up and drive, shopping, contemporary, i can't hear you
